Our 92 Saab 9000T (156K) had a recurring A/C leak that no shop has been able to pinpoint for almost a decade. Consequently having the system recharged every year has been a part of our Saab’s regular maintenance. During that period and despite the impulse to just get rid of it because of that problem I did not yield, conflicted by the thought that overall, the car has really been more than a very reliable transportation so l went ahead and replaced the compressor, condenser, evaporator, in fact, pretty much all the components except the hose as it not only looks good, no leak has even been detected from it. Fast forward to this past week when I called European Specialist and got to talk with Angela who patiently listened to my woes as I relayed the news that the car’s cold A/C air is slowly changing to not-so-cold again and asked if I could drop it off Sunday so Tom could get it recharged and possibly perform a more comprehensive exploration to determine where the leak is coming from. Yesterday afternoon Angela called to inform me that the car is ready for pick-up and when I did, learned from Tom that “he believed the culprit may have finally been discovered. That it was the hose. That the leak was exiting inside the hose’s wrapping and why no leak was ever detected from it.” To encapsulate, making the emotional baggage that car problems create, disappear, is fundamentally the reason I take our car to Tom at European Specialist. They are from my experience very knowledgeable, competent and honest, which standard one always look for from businesses we have to deal with. And just as important are the values of the people that run it, which makes Tom and Angela in my eyes, to be a comforting presence there for they have always shown themselves to be, the decent human beings I have always thought of them to be And furthermore, if they can fix our car’s problems as well, well… Oni Sioson East Haven
